About

About Me

I started my education for the arts at Washtenaw Community College where I achieved an Associate’s Degree in the area of Photography Technology.  I then continued my education at Eastern Michigan University, were I achieved a Bachelors of Fine Art Degree. Over the years, I have been draw to expressing my artistic vision through surrealism. My artwork takes a dream-like approach to life. I use a mixture of nature and human interaction to display a connection with the Earth. With my work, I hope to open the viewer’s mind to different realities, which show incidents that push the boundaries of our physical world. I create scenes using photographic compositing, which is a photograph made by combining several distinct photographs together using digital software. Photographing the scene, objects, subject, and elements is the first step of my process. Then I combine all the images together, using digital software to create composition, lighting, and perspective. I love the idea of being able to create an atmospheric scene. Also, I loved the idea of painting and photography mixed together. My artistic ideal is to show a connection between humanity and Mother Nature. Also, to use surrealism to explore spirituality, unconscious desires, and the dreamscape. Even though each piece is a separate story, with a different message, my body of work connects through the use of symbolism. I want the viewer to look at my work as if it were a metaphor. I hope to inspire the viewer and expand their viewpoint; while, simultaneously, having my work be visually beautiful and dreamlike.
